Electrical Safety Tips for Children
Help children play it safe around electricity, both indoors and outdoors with these tips from Jackson EMC.
When You're Indoors:
- Use plastic outlet protectors or outlets with swiveling face covers to protect children.
- Don’t plug too many cords into a surge protector.
- Never pull an electrical cord from the wall.
- Never touch a worn, frayed or damaged electrical cord.
When You're Outdoors:
- Never fly kites, drones or other remote controlled toys near power lines.
- Stay away from power lines, power meters, pad-mounted transformers and electrical boxes.
- Never climb trees that are near power lines.
- Don’t touch or go near downed power lines
