March 21, 2017) As severe storms rolled into Northeast Georgia Tuesday night, more than 15,000 Jackson EMC members lost power due to high winds and downed trees and power lines. Crews responded and were able to quickly restore power to more than 5,000 members, but as of 10:30 p.m., roughly 10,000 members remained without power. Jackson EMC called in additional resources, and our own personnel are working through the night as we continue to restore power and repair damage caused by the storm.
“We got hit pretty hard with this storm, but we’re doing everything we can to restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” said Tommy Parker, Director, Operations Services. “Our crews, along with six contract crews and eight right-of-way crews, will work through the night and will continue working until all power is restored.”
As of 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, less than 500 members were without power. For real-time outage number updates, visit: http://jemc.maps.sienatech.com/.
