What You Need to Know
Jackson EMC keeps a record of members who require life-sustaining medical equipment dependent upon electric power. They are designated as critical care. Meters listed as critical care are “flagged” in our system in the event of a power outage.
Being included on our critical care list doesn’t prevent electric service interruption due to nonpayment, but helps us prioritize restoring power during widespread outages.
What You Should Do
If you have life-sustaining medical equipment, contact Jackson EMC. A member service representative will tell you what information we need from your doctor to ensure your account is properly designated in our system.
We ask that members with accounts designated as critical care keep us informed of any changes in their medical equipment, including if they no longer need the equipment.
