A.T. Sharpton Scholarship

Students attending the University of North Georgia who are from one of the 10 counties served by Jackson EMC may be eligible for the A.T. Sharpton scholarship. This scholarship is designated to provide educational opportunities to students who demonstrate financial need.

Jackson EMC serves Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Franklin, Hall, Gwinnett, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison and Oglethorpe counties. The University of North Georgia Foundation distributes funds annually for the A.T. Sharpton scholarship.

A.T. “Troy” Sharpton served as chairman of the Jackson EMC Board of Directors from 1976 to 1989. Sharpton operated a 300-acre beef cattle and poultry farm in Gwinnett County. After his passing, his family worked with Jackson EMC to endow a scholarship in his name to honor his commitment to education.

North Georgia Technical College Lineworker Scholarship

Beginning in the fall of 2022, Jackson EMC will fund a $5,000 scholarship at North Georgia Technical College for aspiring lineworkers. Students selected for the scholarship will have the opportunity to spend their observation workweek at Jackson EMC, meeting with mentors and making connections with lineworkers of the cooperative. 

Students will be chosen by the North Georgia Technical College Foundation to receive up to $2,500 in the spring and fall semesters. For more information and eligibility requirements, visit: www.northgatech.edu.
