The Salvation Army created the Project SHARE program in 1985 to serve those in need in Georgia; today it is our primary resource for emergency family assistance throughout the state.

Project SHARE

Since 1985, Project SHARE has provided assistance to people in need throughout Georgia. Each year, more than 40,000 people affected by illness, job loss or other unfortunate circumstances are assisted through Project SHARE. The program is a primary resource for emergency family assistance to those in need.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

You're invited to join other Jackson EMC members in support of Project SHARE, a Salvation Army program that provides emergency assistance to neighbors. Project SHARE funding can assist neighbors with basic necessities such as food, shelter, clothing, utility bills and medical care. You can support your neighbors by donating $1 or more on your monthly bill.

How does Project SHARE work?

People in need apply through their county Salvation Army office. The Salvation Army determines eligibility requirements for assistance.

Administered by The Salvation Army, Project SHARE is funded by electric utility customers who donate through their monthly electric bills. Contributions are forwarded to The Salvation Army and allocated for assistance in the county where the donation was made.

Slightly different from our Operation Round Up (ORU) program, funds administered by The Salvation Army's Project SHARE program may also assist neighbors with basic necessities such as utility bills, food and clothing. To join the network of Neighbors Helping Neighbors, you can pledge a contribution of $1, $2 or $5 each month. The amount you select will be automatically added to your electric bill each month. You can discontinue participation at any time. Simply contact one of our local offices to unsubscribe from contributing to the program.
