As of 3:30 this afternoon, Jackson EMC has restored power to all but 273 customers, all related to 113 active outages. Our crews will continue working until these last customers are back in service.
We’ve restored more than 85,000 customers since the storm began Monday afternoon, replacing 92 broken power poles in the process. We sincerely appreciate the assistance provided by fellow EMCs from Georgia (Altamaha, Carroll, Cobb, Colquitt, Cowetta-Fayette, Diverse Power, GreyStone Power, Jefferson Energy, Okefenokee, Planters, Snapping Shoals, Tri-County and Walton), from Alabama (Baldwin, Clarke Washington, Covington Electric, Dixie Electric, Pea River, Pioneer, South Alabama, Southern Pine, Talapoossa and Wiregrass), and Talquin Electric from Florida. We also were assisted by contractor crews from around the Southeast and as far away as Indiana (Over & Under Contractors, Pike Electric, S&S Constructors, Taylor Tree, Townsend Tree, Utility Lines Construction Service, W.A. Kendall and WYE Delta Electric).
At the same time, we are watching weather forecasts for additional freezing rain beginning tomorrow morning, and making preparations in the event there are additional outages.
