What is ENERGY STAR?
The blue ENERGY STAR™ label represents solutions to save energy, save money and help protect the environment. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.
The ENERGY STAR label makes it easy to find products that offer energy savings without sacrificing performance, features and comfort. Products in more than 60 categories including appliances; heating and air conditioning equipment; electronics; office equipment; and lighting offer savings of as much as 65% over standard models.
Studies show that the Americans trust ENERGY STAR to help them make purchasing decisions. More than 80% of the American public recognizes the ENERGY STAR label.
In addition to certifying products, ENERGY STAR programs to reduce energy use include:
- Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, designed to help cost-effectively increase the efficiency of existing homes
- More than 1 million ENERGY STAR qualified new homes
- Programs to improve industrial energy use and improve commercial building energy efficiency
