About Operation Round Up

As a Jackson EMC member, you have a unique opportunity to support Operation Round Up®, a program that provides financial support to organizations and individuals within the 10 counties served by Jackson EMC. And all that is required is the "rounding up" of your power bill.

How does Operation Round Up work?

On average, you will contribute $6 a year — a small amount to help worthy causes in our community. It works out to be less than the cost of one soft drink, candy bar or cup of coffee a month. This small, monthly contribution can make a huge impact.

How will the money be used?

The Jackson EMC Foundation was created to disperse the money collected by Operation Round Up.

Requests for assistance will be evaluated and grants awarded by a separate board of directors, made of volunteer members from Jackson EMC counties.

The primary purpose of Operation Round Up is to address charitable needs and provide financial assistance anywhere in the 10 counties served by Jackson EMC. One hundred percent of your contributions go toward improving the lives of others, and the funds will not be used for political purposes or electric bills.

The following counties will be served by the program: Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Franklin, Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison and Oglethorpe.

How do I join?

Members of Jackson EMC are automatically included in Operation Round Up. If you choose not to participate, or if you want to discontinue your contribution, simply go to the Operation Round Up form or contact your local Jackson EMC office.

How are requests for funding made?

A request is made by completing a very thorough grant application to be reviewed by the foundation board.

Financial awards are generally limited to $3,500 for individuals and $15,000 for organizations.

What are the benefits?

Through the collective giving by thousands of Jackson EMC members, a significant amount can be raised each year. During the program's first year, more than $800,000 was raised to benefit area organizations and individuals. Remember, your contributions are tax deductible and will help someone's life shine brighter.
