Gwinnett District Residential Marketing Rep, Joy Ellis is a board member of the International Kiwanis Club of Suwanee. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
Earlier this spring their chapter sponsored the annual Walk-A-Mile fundraiser and picnic for Sheltering Arms, a nonprofit organization committed to the health and well-being of preschool children and their families. Ellis and other Kiwanis Club members guided the activities for the fundraiser while 45 children and the Sheltering Arms staff enjoyed the fun-filled day.
“Among the many programs the Kiwanis Club of Suwanee sponsors, Sheltering Arms is one of my favorites and pulls on my heart strings the most,” Ellis says. She also enjoys and participates in the Read-A-Book program at the Sheltering Arms facility.
A club member since 2010, Ellis first became interested in the organization because her dad was a lifetime Kiwanian. When the opportunity came to join the organization, it was a natural fit. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to support local community activities and follow in my father’s footprints,” Ellis concludes.
