Long a supporter of Boys & Girls Club programs, Jackson EMC was a corporate sponsor of 2012 Winder Boys & Girls Club’s Annual Banquet, recognizing all youth awards, including the top award, Youth of the Year.

Rick Baldwin, Jefferson district engineering/operations; Joe Hicks, commercial & industrial marketing representative; and Nelson McGinnis, residential marketing representative attended the event honoring Miah Evans, the club’s prestigious 2012 Youth of the Year award winner.

The Boys & Girls Club enables all young people, especially those in most need, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.  “Organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs invest in the future by investing in our youth,” says McGinnis. “Jackson EMC is honored to support such a wonderful cause.”

“The Boys & Girls Clubs offer programs and services to promote and enhance the development of youth by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence,” Hicks said. “The clubs are a safe place to learn and grow, all while having fun.  It’s the place where great futures are started every day.”

Baldwin, Hicks and McGinnis had the privilege of hosting Miah and her family for the evening event and were impressed by the caliber of students who filled the room.  “You always hear about troubled teens, but the banquet room was filled with just the opposite; these kids are very impressive,” concluded Hicks.
