Support for the Youth Apprenticeship Programs offered through area high schools.
Jackson EMC fully supports the Youth Apprenticeship Programs offered through area high schools. This program allows juniors and seniors to plan for their future careers while they are still in high school. Students who are accepted into the program receive on-the-job training as part of their education and receive vocational credit toward graduation.
Apprentices employed at Jackson EMC are assigned a "mentor" to teach and supervise them as they learn the functions of the job to which they are assigned. Mentors develop detailed work plans designed to assist apprentices to get the training they need to help make better-informed career choices. Jackson EMC benefits in the short-term by getting the help we need and in the long-term by developing students to potentially to become full-time Jackson employees in the future.
As opportunities to use apprentices at Jackson EMC are identified, the schools near the appropriate Jackson EMC office are notified. Students interested in the Youth Apprenticeship Program should contact the Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator at their high schools.
