When Life Happens, We've Got a Plan

Reduced income, retirement or lifestyle changes, planned and unplanned, may mean that you have to take a look at your monthly bills. Jackson EMC offers members a variety of bill payment plans to meet their financial needs.

Keeping Your Power Bill the Same Each Month with Budget Billing

If you like to know your power bill balance will be the same each month, you can sign up for Jackson EMC's Budget Billing program. Budget billing works because the plan averages your current month and last 11 months of electric use. Your bill will be this average amount each month until the anniversary date when you signed up for Budget Billing. On your anniversary date, your average will be recalculated to determine your new Budget Billing amount in case your usage increases or decreases during your previous Budget Billing period. You have to have service with us at least a year before you qualify for this program.

Helping Senior and Disabled Members Pay on Schedule

Sometimes members' Social Security, disability or pension checks don't arrive at the same time their power bill is due. We understand that these situations are often beyond members' control so we offer our Senior Plan to help. Qualifying members can participate in this plan and pay their electric bill after the due date without affecting their credit record or paying a late fee. Senior Plan members must still pay their bill before the disconnect date.

We understand that many of our senior members are on a fixed income. Members who qualify for our senior and low-income assistance plans will be eligible for a credit to be applied to the service charge or minimum monthly charge each month.

To Qualify for Budget Billing

Budget Billing is offered to residential members who:

  • Have lived at their current address for at least one year, or have moved to a location that has a 12-month history of electric use that can be used to calculate an average usage amount;
  • Plan to live at their current address for at least one year;
  • Have electric service from a single meter that is wired for their individual use;
  • Have no balance on your Jackson EMC account at the time you begin the plan; and
  • Have established a good payment record on your Jackson EMC account.

To qualify for the Senior Plan you must:

  • Be at least 62 years of age or qualified to receive disability income from an approved plan;
  • Have a residential account for a primary residence; and
  • Complete a Senior's Plan application.
