Operation Round Up® Begins Next Month
Jackson EMC members will celebrate ORU Day on October 3, 2005 — the day Operation Round Up begins. As a Jackson EMC member, you have the opportunity to support a program that will provide financial support and serve the needs of organizations and individuals within the 10 counties served by Jackson EMC.
How Does It Work?
Your monthly electric bill is automatically "rounded up" to the nearest dollar. For example, if your bill is $45.82, you'll see $46.00 on your electric bill, with the 18 cents going to Operation Round Up. Less than the cost of a soft drink or cup of coffee a month, contributions average out to approximately $6 a year per account. If you have multiple accounts, each account will be rounded up, unless we hear from you. You can remove additional accounts from the Round Up list by completing the form below and returning it with your next bill. Donations are tax-deductible, and you'll receive a summary of your yearly contributions each January.
How Is the Money Distributed?
Donations are placed in a foundation and distributed by an independent board of directors. Made up of volunteer members within the 10 counties served by Jackson EMC, the foundation will process and evaluate all requests for assistance, and grants will be awarded throughout the year.
How to Apply?
Visit www.jacksonemc.com/roundup, review the grant guidelines and download an application. Applications are also available by mail and in Jackson EMC offices.

How will Operation Round Up funds be used?
The primary purpose of Operation Round Up is to address charitable needs and provide financial assistance anywhere in the 10 counties served by Jackson EMC. One hundred percent of contributions go toward improving the lives of others, and the funds will not be used for political purposes or electric bills.
The Jackson EMC Foundation was created to disperse the money collected by Operation Round Up.
Requests for assistance will be evaluated and grants awarded by a separate board of directors, made of volunteer members from Jackson EMC counties.
