The Potter's House in Jefferson does just what its name suggests – takes apparently broken pieces of clay and reshapes them into something new. Serving more than 6,000 chemically addicted men since its inception in 1967, the Potter's House is a unique recovery mission under the Atlanta Union umbrella.
Located on a 570-acre working farm, the intense recovery program introduces tranquil solitude and hard work for long-term substance abusers. The organization will put the $6,000 Jackson EMC Foundation grant to good use providing food, housing, counseling and an educational program for the residents.
The Atlanta Union Mission is a Christian ministry and one of the largest comprehensive faith-based providers of homeless services in the Southeast. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Atlanta Union Mission was founded in 1938.
