High school juniors will face off on Thursday, November 10, at the 2005 Energy Bowl.
Held at the Jackson EMC office in Jefferson, the academic competition gives students the opportunity to win a $1,000 college scholarship, a $1,000 educational grant for their school and a delegate position on the Washington Youth Tour.
Similar to Jeopardy, the fast-paced academic bowl tests students' knowledge of electricity, energy, science and environment. Several students from a high school may apply; however, only one student can represent each school. If more than one student applies from the same school, selection will be based on GPA, leadership and community involvement.
Applications and letters of recommendation are due at Jackson EMC corporate offices in Jefferson no later than 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 25.
Interested participants should contact their high school counselor or download an application herehttp://www.jacksonemc.com/community/energybowl.pdf. A study packet will be mailed to the selected contestants' high school, allowing students two weeks to prepare for competition. For questions or to request a mailed application, please contact Kay Parks at 706- 367-6122 or by email at kparks@jacksonemc.com.
