An information resource in emergencies
Jackson EMC works year-round to make sure we can respond quickly to severe weather and keep the power flowing to our customers. Georgia weather — in particular ice storms and tornados — can, however, wreak havoc on the thousands of miles of lines that supply power.
We are better prepared than ever to respond to power outages. Our new Outage Management System not only provides us with company-wide access to real-time information, it also enables us to troubleshoot and repair outages faster. Customer outage reports from our Contact Center or customer calls are automatically mapped in the system using GIS. Software is often able to immediately track an outage cause to a specific device.
When severe weather is predicted, we make preparations to ensure crews are ready to respond. We make sure trucks are stocked and our warehouses have needed supplies, so that when a crew is dispatched to handle an outage, they can do so efficiently.
Jackson EMC works with local radio stations to provide updates on outage situations and expected service restoration throughout the weather event.
These Storm Center pages give you tips on preparing for and responding to severe weather. In the event of a severe weather emergency, this section will be updated with current information about the storm and Jackson EMC's response.
