It's Time to Cut Back
Help Make Meter Reading Easier
May Message from Randall Pugh
President/CEO
Spring is here and now's the time to cut back the shrubs and vegetation growing around your meter. Be kind; make reading your meter easy and safe for our field service representatives (FSRs). When you're doing yard work, don't forget to trim around your meter.
Field service representatives read your meters, connect and disconnect service, and resolve bill complaints. Rain, sleet, snow or shine, your FSRs are on their routes to make sure meters are read on time each month.
We consider our FSRs the eyes and ears of the cooperative. Many have been en route and discovered dangers to consumers such as faulty wiring, fires, burglaries and more. Their job isn't easy, and you can do your part to make sure FSRs have clear access to the electrical meters on your property.
Another danger facing FSRs is man's best friend. Our pets are important to us, and often show their love through protection. If a dog is on your property, please be sure to secure your pet indoors on the day your meter is scheduled for a reading, which is the day before your next bill date. For example, if the next bill date is May 16, the meter will be read on May 15.
An estimated 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs each year. Over the past two years, our FSRs suffered a number of dog bites, some requiring medical attention.
Providing safe access to your electric meter reduces safety hazards that pose threats to our employees.
