Four for Forty

December Message from Randall Pugh
President/CEO

Four for Forty doesn't sound like much when you say it, but after hearing a speech years ago I realized the impact of these three words. The speaker wanted the recent grads to know, as he repeatedly stated, "You have to get your Four for Forty," that if you invest in four years of a college education, you help guarantee 40 years of job opportunity to sustain you until retirement.

That's why we encourage our members to apply for scholarships offered through Jackson EMC. One of our seven cooperative principles is educational development and the scholarship program is our way of helping college students earn their Four for Forty.

Students seeking college scholarships have three categories to choose from through Jackson EMC. Both traditional and non-traditional students are eligible. The Walter-Harrison (restricted to Georgia schools), A.T. Sharpton-Gainesville College and A.T. Sharpton unrestricted scholarships are available. Applications are due January 25, 2008.

High school seniors who have been accepted to college or undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accredited college, university or technical school are eligible to apply. Applicants may be attending school full- or part-time. To qualify, applicants must be members of Jackson EMC, the sons or daughters of a member or a resident of the home served by Jackson EMC.

Don't let this scholarship opportunity pass you by. Submit your applications today. Visit your high school counselor's office, fill out an application online or contact Kay Parks at 706-367-6122 or by e-mail at kparks@jacksonemc.com.
