August Message from Randall Pugh
President/CEO
Very few business meetings feature barbecue dinners and gospel music concerts, but then again, the Jackson EMC Annual Meeting is not your usual business meeting. I've seen 23 Annual Meetings come together in my years at the cooperative, and each one has a uniqueness that shows the cooperative spirit at work. It's what makes September ABC time – Annual Meeting, Barbecue and Concert time.
As a member and owner of Jackson EMC, you have the option of learning about the business and operations of your cooperative. We will present an overview of our financials, along with the cooperative's performance for 2007. This is your opportunity to talk with board members, management and employees. We spend months preparing for this evening with you, and want to be sure that you take full advantage of what your membership/ownership means.
We're not all business. We want you to enjoy a tasty barbecue dinner on the premises, enter to win a variety of door prizes, visit the Health Fair, watch the children play at the Kids' Carnival and listen to the sounds of The Lewis Family.
If you're a new member or if this is your first Annual Meeting, we ask you to consider joining us on Thursday, September 27. You'll leave with a better understanding of Jackson EMC, our products, how we operate, and, most of all, its people. Each board member represents an area within Jackson EMC's territory; however, they all work for the entire cooperative. Look for them in the crowd. They'll have a blue ribbon beneath their nametag, and each is willing to talk to you about the cooperative way of doing business. Starting September 9, you can make reservations for the Annual Meeting online.
There are a number of reasons to attend Annual Meeting, but the most important is because you're a member/owner. You share ownership of Jackson EMC with thousands of members just like you. We offer you a stake in our operation and future, and the Annual Meeting is a once-a-year opportunity to meet the leaders of your cooperative. If you've been, we look forward to seeing you again. New to the cooperative? This is the perfect time to learn just what the cooperative way is all about.
