Audit helps Panasonic with environmental certification.

An energy audit can benefit a business in many ways. Panasonic took advantage of these benefits when it began its ISO 14001 certification process, an environmental certification.

The ISO 14001 certification  comprises two components — energy savings and recycling. Recycling reduces the amount of paper that goes into land fields, and the reduction of energy usage helps decrease the use of non-renewable natural resources. The 14001 certification can be a tedious, time-consuming process that requires a company to meet very high standards as proactive, environmentally conscious stewards of the earth. Jackson EMC was happy to assist in this process by conducting an energy audit — one of the requirements in the certification process. The energy audit provided a concise report on how Panasonic could reduce electrical energy usage, helping reduce electrical demand and comply with certification standards.

After months of hard work, filing thorough reports and making the necessary changes for compliance, Panasonic received the ISO 14001 certification naming it an environmentally conscious company — a competitive quality that sets Panasonic apart from others. Jim Harris, general manager for Panasonic, says the company's goal was to save 5% on energy usage and to date the company has saved 12%.
