Make sure your new VOIP can communicate with your security company.
From cell phones to computers, technology has advanced the security industry. Not only does technology allow us to keep in touch with each other with the push of a button, but now we can also operate equipment like security systems from almost anywhere. EMC Security is proud to offer security packages to enhance any system.
New Technology
You're excited - you've just gotten your Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) connected, and now you're enjoying your broadband connection, unlimited long distance calls and all the perks this new technology has to offer. There's only one problem; your telephone line and security system aren't speaking to each other anymore.
Communication is the key to a healthy relationship between new technology and your security system. Be sure to test your system and check its compatibility to get the best performance. EMC Security offers a variety of packages to overcome new technology issues, and give you the ability to enhance your security system package to meet your needs.
If you have VOIP, contact your security company, and be sure you have the necessary levels of protection. We recommend backup cell service, which keeps your security system connected whether the phone line is down due to weather, tampering or technology configurations. If a nearby telephone switch is damaged or out of service, your security system connection remains connected to the emergency response center with the cell backup service.
Remote Control Made Easy
If your home office is where you keep important documents, valuables and the like, you can secure the area when you're away from home. With door sensors, you're immediately notified if someone opens your office door. Whether it's an office or a gun collection case, this is a great tool for keeping the youngsters out without parental supervision.
Not only can you monitor room or cabinet entry, remote access also allows you to set your alarm from any computer, key chain or cell phone. Whether you're working late or out of town, your security system can be a mouse click away. Call EMC Security and ask a technician if your system will work with this technology.
Seeing is Believing
Years ago, video monitoring was an expensive service; however, technology has advanced to the point where these video monitoring packages are affordable and easy to operate. Want to know if the kids are home from school? You can log in to your security system and take a peek in your home via an IP technology camera anywhere you have broadband Internet access.
Check Your Security System Today
There are a variety of security systems on the market today and many of them work differently with today's technology. "We believe our customers deserve to know the facts about their security systems' capabilities. Although we have an enhanced package that includes cell backup, video monitoring and much more, our first priority is to be sure new technology is working well with an existing security system," says Vince Raia, EMC Security president. "It only takes a few minutes to call your monitoring company and check to be sure your security system is working properly. Whether you've added new technology or not, we encourage our customers to call to test their systems periodically. It's free, quick and easy."
How to Test Your System
When EMC Security installed your alarm system, or if they converted your monitoring from a previous service, your system components were tested to ensure they were properly communicating to the central station facility. You can test your system monthly to be sure it's ready in case of an emergency. Phone line failures, lightning or power surges, a change in telephone service (adding DSL or Internet Protocol service) may cause your normally reliable security system to become incapable of doing its job.
- Call the EMC Security monitoring center at 1-888-745-4733 and let them know you will be testing your system. You will need your pass code to identify yourself and to set your system for testing.
- Close all doors and protected windows, arm your system and allow the delay time to expire.
- Set off your alarm and let the alarm sound for a minimum of 15 seconds.
- Call the monitoring center to be sure your system signal was properly received. You have now successfully tested your system.
If the system doesn't communicate to the central station, please call the service department at 770-963-0305, Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to arrange for a technician to check your system.
