Making a Difference Today for a Brighter Tomorrow

Jackson EMC invests in youth programs

Our goal is to positively impact the communities where we live, work and do business. We believe one of the best ways to make a difference is to invest in our future ? our youth. At Jackson EMC, we give something more valuable than all the electronic gizmos and gadgets our young people have, and that's time and opportunity.

Our youth programs allow us to impact a young person's education from elementary school through college. From agriculture to electrical engineering, the cooperative's youth competitions give high school students opportunities to win scholarships, prize money and grants for their schools. "We sponsor a variety of youth programs including the Quality Beef Show, Electric Wiring Contest, Energy Bowl, Youth Citizenship Award, scholarship programs and the Regional Science and Engineering Fair," says Kay Parks, public/community relations representative for Jackson EMC.

"Our programs have a three-fold mission: education, leadership and self-confidence. Whether employees volunteer their time, resources or both, our commitment to youth programs is only paralleled by our commitment to business ? offering the power to improve lives."

As one of the largest EMCs in the U.S., Jackson EMC is committed to being a responsible corporate citizen partnering with schools, businesses, communities and governments. "Our youth programs are a valuable part of our overall community relations program, and each opportunity we have to enhance our programs, we're going to take it," says Randall Pugh, Jackson EMC president/CEO. "We believe investing in our youth is an investment worth making, and we're proud to do so."
