Jarrett Morgan Wins the Energy Bowl

Grayson High School's Jarrett Morgan is the winner of this year's Energy Bowl competition, walking away with a $2,000 scholarship and $1,000 grant for his school. As Energy Bowl winner, he will represent Jackson EMC on the expense-paid Washington Youth Tour.

Twenty-three students, representing seven counties, started by answering on paper two rounds of 20 science and energy questions. The students with the five highest scores advanced to the final round, where they competed to be the first to buzz in with the right answer.

Three students tied for the fifth chair in the final round. Nathan Prestridge of Cedar Shoals High School, Ansul Das of Mill Creek High School and Ty McCormack of North Hall High School sat for the tie-breaking question, which was won by Prestridge.

He joined Morgan, Andrew Popovici of Flowery Branch High School, Lillian Otieno of Ivy Manor Preparatory Academy and Seth Rackley of Hebron Christian Academy for the final round.

Morgan, son of Amy and Don Morgan of Grayson, says winning the Energy Bowl was a great experience. "It's an honor to win, and it proves that working, studying and excelling in school pays off." Morgan says he'd like the $1,000 grant for his school to go to the Academic Team Program. "The money would help us enter more tournaments."

Randall Pugh, JEMC president/CEO, says this competition is an opportunity for Jackson EMC to recognize the commitment these students have placed in their education. "Each year, I'm impressed with the number of students throughout our service territory who excel in their studies."
