Jackson and Walton EMCs Present Gwinnett Board of Education with Margin Refund Check
Jackson and Walton EMC presented the Gwinnett County Board of Education with a joint $95,000 check in February.

The check represents the Gwinnett board's part of each EMC's 2003 margin refunds. Jackson EMC serves 19 schools and Walton EMC serves 29 schools in Gwinnett's system.
Unlike investor-owned utilities, electric cooperatives are not-for-profit organizations. EMCs return a small percentage of every dollar a member spends for electric service in margins, the money left over after the cost of doing business. Jackson EMC has returned nearly $50 million in margin refunds to our residential and commercial/industrial members.
