Jackson EMC recently took honors in the 2004 "Spotlight on Excellence" awards program, sponsored by the Council of Rural Electric Communicators.

Held in July, the awards luncheon is one of the highlights of the National Rural Electric Association's Marketing, Member Services and Communication Conference.

 

Jackson EMC received an Award of Excellence in the Best Advertising Campaign category for "EMC Security." Bonnie Jones, Public Relations/Communications director, coordinated the campaign. The cooperative also received an Award of Excellence in the Best Newsletter category for Jemclips.
Katrice Bryant, senior PR/Communications specialist, is the writer and editor. Both award-winning entries were products of collaborative efforts with the cooperative's advertising agency, The Adsmith in Athens.

 

Electric cooperative communicators submitted a record 745 entries in the Spotlight on Excellence program. The Award of Excellence is considered first place.

 

Jackson EMC also brought several winning entries back from the 2004 Cooperative Communicators Association (CCA) Institute in June. The CCA is an organization of all cooperative marketing and communications professionals, including companies like Sunkist, Land-O-Lakes and USDA. Competition is stiff, and Jackson EMC is honored to be among the winner's circle.

 

 

Bonnie Jones won two 2nd place awards for the Green Power Advertising Campaign and the 2003 Annual Report to Members. Jones collaborated with Morton Vardeman & Carlson advertising agency in Gainesville for Green Power. The Annual Report was a collaborative effort with The Adsmith.

 

Katrice Bryant won 2nd place for the member newsletter, Jemco News. Bryant collaborates with Lightsources Photography in Gainesville and The Project Center, a design and advertising agency in Atlanta.

 

Jones also took 3rd place in the Direct Mail, One-Time Mailing category for a special business package for the Annual Report.

 

The CCA Institute is a training conference packed with seminars that feature practitioners and teachers in the communications field. This year's Institute was held in Louisville, Ky.
