Traditions of Braselton is bringing energy-efficiency and comfort to its golf community.
Jackson EMC's power supply contract with Williams Energy will now be carried out by Progress Ventures, Inc., a subsidiary of Progress Energy, Inc., of Raleigh, N.C. Williams Energy sold Jackson EMC's 15-year power agreement to Progress Ventures in mid-March.
The all-requirements Power Supply and Energy Call Agreement between Jackson EMC and Williams Energy became effective in October of 2001. Progress is expected to assume responsibility of the agreement by the end of May 2003. A regulatory approval process will take between 60 to 90 days to complete before the agreement with Progress will go into effect.
Randall Pugh, president and CEO of Jackson EMC, says the cooperative is pleased with the agreement. "Jackson EMC will maintain all of the terms, conditions and pricing contained in the original Williams Agreement. Progress holds a strong financial position and owns substantial generating resources in Georgia in order to support our contract, and having that kind of stability is most important to the cooperative and the members we serve."
