The home's energy efficiency is tested with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment after completion. A blower door test checks the tightness, while the heating and air conditioning system undergoes an e-Scan test.

Wireless sensors inside flow hoods are placed on all supply and return registers throughout the house, allowing the e-Scan to measure airflow in each room while the heating and cooling system is operating. The sensors send the information to a laptop computer where sophisticated software analyzes the overall performance of the system. The test confirms that each room is receiving enough airflow to ensure comfort — even in rooms that frequently have heating and cooling problems, such as bonus and sunrooms.
