Heating Your Home Without Heating Up Your Bill
Are you prepared for winter weather?
We want you to be prepared to keep your home warm and your electric bill low.
- Reprogram your thermostat settings for winter. This includes setting the clock back to standard time.
- If your thermostat uses batteries, now may be the time to replace them.
- Try not to set your thermostat higher than 72° F when you're at home. Lower your thermostat to 65° F when you're sleeping or away from home.
- Have your HVAC units or furnace checked by a professional.
- Add weather-stripping and caulking to windows and doors.
- Change your filters. You can help your system run more efficiently and increase your home's air quality with a consistent filter change regimen.
- If you're not using your fireplace, keep the damper airtight to keep warm air from escaping your home.
