Jackson EMC Reports Only Minor Weather-Related Problems
For Immediate Release
February 1, 2007
As of 10:30 this morning, Jackson EMC has experienced only minor weather-related problems, the most significant of which occurred in Gwinnett County when cars hit power poles in separate incidents near our Jim Moore Road substation ( 80 customers lost power) and near Old Peachtree Road (69 customers lost power). Service to all of these customers has been restored.
We have worked six other outages, five involving transformers in Gwinnett (2) and Hall (3) where trees or limbs fell on power lines and caused tranformers to fail and one that invovled an equipment problem. A total of 124 customers were affected, 122 in Hall County and 2 in Gwinnett County. Service to all of these customers has been restored.
We are currently working two outages involving two customers, one in East Hall County and the other in North Clarke County around Center. Both of these outages involve transformers and one customer each.
Update: As of 1 p.m., Jackson EMC had restored power to the last two individual customers who were out of service. Given the weather forecast for the remainder of the day, we do not anticipate further weather-related outages.
