Each year, Jackson EMC holds the Energy Bowl, a quiz bowl designed to promote math and science skills among high school students.
Jackson EMC started the Energy Bowl in 1993 to select one of our two delegates to the Washington D.C. Youth Tour, an event that provides over 1,500 students from across the United States with the experience of a lifetime. The Energy Bowl is held each fall at the Jefferson District of Jackson EMC.
Along with an all-expense paid trip to our nation's capital, the winning student receives a $2,000 scholarship to the college, university or technical school of his or her choice. The winning student's high school benefits as well, with a $1,000 educational grant to be used in a way the student and school select.
The application period for the 2009 Energy Bowl is closed. Stay tuned for upcoming details on this year's event.
