Eagle Ranch, Inc., a faith-based home for boys and girls in crisis, will expand its Equine Therapy program thanks to a Jackson EMC Foundation award funded by Operation Round Up®. Located in Chestnut Mountain, a community just outside of Gainesville, Eagle Ranch is the largest home for children northeast of Atlanta. Serving over 50 boys and girls and their families, the organization incorporated Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) as part of their counseling treatment.

EAP is an increasingly popular form of therapy where horses are used as a tool for emotional growth and learning. A licensed therapist and horse professional work together to address a variety of the children's needs. Bonding, trust, self-control and leadership are among the many benefits of EAP treatment. With the grant, EAP will increase the number of EAP participants from 12 to 30 students.

"We are grateful for the investment of Jackson EMC with Eagle Ranch since the beginning of our mission. The Jackson EMC Foundation grant toward our equine therapy program will greatly enhance the work we do with our children," says Eddie Staub, Eagle Ranch executive director. Founded 22 years ago, Eagle Ranch now serves children ages 8 to 16, including an on-campus school and counseling for their parents and siblings.
