"I pledge to do my part to save energy and help reduce the risks of global climate change by replacing at least one light in my home with an Energy Star ® qualified one."
Hundreds of members took the Change a Light pledge at this year's Annual Meeting in September. If you missed your chance at Annual Meeting, it's not too late. You can take the pledge from the convenience of your home by clicking on Take the Pledge. Be sure to select Jackson EMC as your organization.
The Energy Star Change a Light campaign is a national challenge to encourage every American to help change the world, one light – one energy-saving step - at a time. Once you take the pledge, all you have to do is replace one light bulb in your home with an Energy Star qualified bulb.
"The Change a Light program is one of the many programs and products we offer members to encourage energy efficiency. We've promoted energy efficiency for decades through our new home programs such as Right Choice ™ and audit programs. Adding the Change a Light campaign to our list speaks to our commitment to make a difference in our environment," says Amy Bryan, Jackson EMC Residential Marketing director.
When you see the Energy Star label, you're purchasing a product held to a higher standard of energy efficiency. Energy Star-qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) use 75 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and can last six to ten times longer. Your commitment to using efficient bulbs means you're helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to the global climate change. You're also saving energy and money.
Do your part for the environment. Changing just one light in your home can make a difference, and you don't have to stop there. Make it a priority to work toward changing all your home's light bulbs to Energy Star-qualified bulbs and continue your commitment to the Change a Light campaign.
