Students seeking college scholarships have three categories to choose from through Jackson EMC.
Traditional and non-traditional students can lighten some of those heavy college tuitions through The Walter-Harrison, A.T. Sharpton-Gainesville College and the A.T. Sharpton Unrestricted scholarships. Applications are due January 19, 2007.
To apply, visit your high school counselor's office, contact Kay Parks at 706-367-6122 or by email at kparks@jacksonemc.com.
Completed applications can be submitted to Jackson EMC beginning November 17. Get your applications in early, and get a head start on scholarship opportunities.
Walter-Harrison Scholarship
Named in honor of a leader in the electric cooperative movement, the Harrison Scholarship is awarded statewide. This scholarship is available to undergraduate students enrolled in or accepted by a Georgia college, university or technical school. The Harrison Scholarship is based on financial need and academic ability.
A.T. Sharpton — Gainesville College
Named after a late chairman of Jackson EMC's Board of Directors, this scholarship is available exclusively to students planning to attend Gainesville College. Financial need is the primary consideration for this scholarship. However, academic average, class rank, standardized test scores and faculty recommendations are also considered.
A.T. Sharpton — Unrestricted
The Unrestricted scholarship is available to students enrolled in any accredited two- or four-year college or university in the nation. This scholarship is available to both undergraduate and graduate students.
