Want to analyze your home's energy use based on your billing history at Jackson EMC?
Look at the cost of operating different appliances? See how much money compact ?uorescents can save you? Jackson EMC's online analyzer at www.jacksonemc.com/analyzer can help you look at how you are using energy now and what you can do to reduce future energy use.
When you input your customer number, the "Calculate Based on Your Account Information" calculator draws billing information from your account to show your actual electricity costs. You can then input information about your home, including size, number of windows, thermostat setting and types of appliances, to get detailed information on where your energy dollar is going. The program breaks down your energy use and allocates the amount you are probably spending on heating, cooling, refrigeration and so on. It is also normalized for recent weather conditions that might have created higher than normal bills. In addition, you can also see a customized analysis of how much a pool or spa costs to operate.
You can change some of the energy performance variables and get a scenario that shows what difference that change would make in your energy bill. For example, you can get an idea of how much you would save if you started setting your thermostat higher in the summer or if you replaced older single-pane windows.
If you prefer not to enter your customer number or if you want to run scenarios on other houses, you can use the "Calculate Your Base House" calculator, which works the same way except that it doesn't use actual customer billing information.
The analyzer also has an "Appliance Energy Use" calculator that shows the typical energy use of many appliances such as DVDs, televisions, radios, stoves, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, hair dryers, ceiling fans and water heaters. There's also a lighting calculator that shows how much you would save if you replaced your incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents.
