On April 10, 1939, power flowed through Jackson EMC lines for the first time. Our cooperative traditions remain 69 years later. Often described as a family fun day, complete with a barbecue dinner and entertainment, the Annual Meeting is a business meeting with a county-fair-type atmosphere. Yesteryear's demonstrations introducing "how to cook on electric stoves" have evolved into ENERGY STAR® appliance features in the Annual Meeting Customer Service area. Ms. Jackson EMC pageants have given way to a Health Fair and Kids Carnival. Each year, members come by the thousands to participate in the Annual Meeting, and you're invited. Dear Member/Customer:

Notice is hereby given that the 2008 meeting of the member/customers of Jackson Electric Membership Corporation will be held at the headquarters in Jefferson, Ga., on Thursday, September 18, 2008.

Registration will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be called to order at approximately 7:20 p.m. by the chairperson. The purpose of the meeting is to:

1. receive reports of officers, directors and committees;
2. elect three directors,
3. handle all other business which may properly come before the meeting or any adjournment thereof.
   

Prizes, entertainment, a box supper, important business and other special programs will be featured at this meeting. You are requested to be present.
