Adam Brown
By fall 2006, Adam Brown will be a freshman at the Georgia Institute of Technology. With plans to do research and development on artificial organs and prosthetics, Adam will major in Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech. Adam is the son of Wesley and Rhonda Pitzer of Gainesville.
"I believe that we each can make an impact on our world if we just try. If you can help better one little corner of your world, it affects much more of the world around you, spreading out to influence or change the lives of people you have never even met."
Kayla Dodd
Kayla calls her future plans the "All-American Dream." With plans of becoming a nurse, Kayla will begin her college career at Gainesville State College and later transfer to the University of Georgia. Kayla is the daughter of Lamar and Tressa Dodd of Commerce.
"My ultimate goal in life is to have a successful career, a wonderful family and a beautiful home somewhere in the area where I grew up."
Niki Ferguson
Niki is not quite sure what she will major in at North Georgia College, but she knows she eventually wants to work with children. Whether she's coaching softball or teaching art, Niki wants to combine her creative side with her love of working with young people. The daughter of David and Sandra Ferguson of Hull, Niki's career goals won't take her far away from the neighborly spirit she's known for.
"I absolutely love the community in which I live. I am willing to do whatever it takes to preserve its small town atmosphere, whether it be picking up trash off the side of the road or taking fruit baskets to the elderly in nursing homes."
Angela Hosch
Angela Hosch began her college career at Gainesville State College in spring 2005. With plans of becoming a registered nurse, Angela has a jumpstart on her career as an employee of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Angela enrolled in college at the age of 33, and maintains a 3.8 grade point average. Angela says her dream is to instill the importance of education and strong work ethic in her 11-year-old son.
"I had always planned to become a nurse, but life threw some curves. At the age of 33, I finally decided it would never happen unless I took the plunge and made it happen."
Ansley Larango
Ansley began her second semester as a pre-nursing major at Georgia College and State University. Ansley says her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse is grounded in a strong foundation at the college's School of Health Sciences. Even though she believes in working hard and hitting the books, Ansley's involvement in campus activities range from assisting with the college's Open House to book drives for underprivileged children. Ansley is the daughter of Anne Larango of Bethlehem.
"Bringing happiness to the hearts of all who know and love me makes me special. I am kind and respectful and enjoy offering friendship and compassion to the people in my life."
Maria Li
Maria Li will begin her college career at Harvard College. With plans to major in International Business and Journalism, Maria says she can combine her love for traveling and interest in diversity while using her skills to better the lives of others. The daughter of Leishu Li of Dacula, Maria has big dreams and a sure-fire plan of reaching her goals.
"With a successful career in business and finance, I will have the financial freedom to make my dreams come true. I can initiate the building of schools, tour the poverty-stricken countries of Africa, and provide donations to benefit medical research and environmental protection."
Erin Wood
Erin's plans of becoming a teacher are already underway as she prepares to attend Gainesville State College where she will remain for two years before transferring to North Georgia College to complete her degree in Secondary Education. Erin's not afraid of hard work; volunteering and working part-time throughout her high school career helped her realize the value of education. Erin is the daughter of Angelia Wood of Gainesville.
"I feel education is of the utmost importance, especially in today's changing world. I would like to impact the future of other students through quality teaching."
